Dodgeball Event Raises Nearly $2,000

By Jeff Gulley

Seven teams squared off for a dodgeball title on Sunday and raised nearly $2,000 for the upcoming Relay for Life.

The relay team Bama Rama, which was formed in memory of Jim Osborne, sponsored the tournament and organizer Heather Osborne was thrilled with the results.

“We had a great turnout for our first one,” she said. “We had 17 kids show up. They played for about an hour. Then they played against the parents that were in attendance. It was fun. Everything ran pretty smoothly and everyone seemed to have a good time.”

The tournament raised $1,922 for the Relay for Life team.

Taking first place were the Ballers on a Budget, second place was the Bama Ballers and third place went to the Team New Slate.

The first-place team will have $300 donated in its name to the Relay for Life. Second place gets $200 donated and third place gets $100.

Osborne thanked Corey Powell for his DJ services and Thompson’s Vending for providing the concession stand.

The Miami County Relay For Life will be June 10-11 at Paola High School.
