Council Approves Purchase For Wastewater Treatment Plant

By Jeff Gulley

The city of Osawatomie wastewater treatment plant will get a $25,000 upgrade after the council approved the purchase of a new automated control system.

Interim city manager Don Jordan told the council Thursday night that the plant’s decanters were replaced recently but one is not functioning properly.

Jordan said the current system is antiquated and does not have the ability to determine where the problem is.

The new system will be purchased from the company that built and maintains the plant systems.

The council approved the purchase 8-0.

In other news the council:

– Tabled an appointment to the library board until more applications can be taken.

– Went into executive session for the purpose of non-elected personnel and returned to announce that Don Cawby had been selected as city manager.

– Will hold a budget hearing on Aug. 25.
