Girard Runs Past Trojans 65-38

Osawatomie started out strong against the Girard Trojans Friday night but the defense couldn’t hold down the visiting team in a 65-38 loss.

Osawatomie’s defense shut down the visiting Trojans on the first series and forced a punt. On the first place from scrimmage, Austin Chisam connected with Brandon Oakes for a 35-yard touchdown pass.

Girard then took possession and drove the length of the field, scoring on a 1-yard run to tie the score 8-8.

Oakes would make the next big play breaking free for a 70-yard touchdown run to give the Trojans the lead 16-8.

But Girard would score the next six touchdowns scoring twice more in the first quarter and twice in the second quarter to lead 36-16 at the half. Girard then scored the two more times in the third quarter before Osawatomie would strike again.

Chisam connected with Josh Criddle over the middle for a 54-yard touchdown pass.

Osawatomie kept fighting in the fourth quarter. Following a Girard touchdown, Oakes ran back the kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown. Girard scored again on a 23-yard run and Chisam answered with a 2-yard run.

Oakes finished with 166 yards rushing and 60 yards receiving. Chisam was 5 of 13 passing for 148 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.

Criddle had two catches for 88 yards.

Matt Lofing led the defense again with 13 tackles. Zak Higgins had 11 tackles Chris Jones had 8 tackles. Higgins and Braxton Taylor each had fumble recoveries.

The Trojans get back to Pioneer League play Friday night hosting the Wellsville Eagles.
