Drag And Brag Quilt Show Draws Nearly 500 People
The Miami County Quilt Guild “Drag and Brag” Quilt Show had wonderful weather for this year’s event. Pat Noel, chairman of the guild, said Monday that attendance was estimated at about 500 people, which is better than last year’s attendance. About 200 articles were entered in the show, with about 150 of those being full-size quilts. Four antique quilts on display represented the 1800s.
The youngest quilter represented was Corryn Connet, 10, of Fort Scott. She entered a pink and light green quilt with butterflies. She is walking in the footsteps of her grandmother, who just happens to be Pat Noel.
There were a total of 20 models, young and old, in the style show at the end of the day. They wore costumes appropriate to the time of the quilts they were carrying in the show. One little girl was even asked if she could sing. She took the microphone from the announcer and proceeded to sing a song to the entertainment of the onlookers.
It is a given that plans have already been started for the 33rd show in 2012.
