OMS Eighth-Grade One Win Away From Title

The Osawatomie Middle School eighth grade basketball team moved a step closer to the league championship with a 27-22 win over Anderson County Monday night.

The Trojans beat the Bulldogs for the third time this year and will play in the tournament championship Thursday night.

Ryann Fisher scored seven points in the first quarter and six in the second and the Trojans led 13-9 at halftime.

It was the third quarter that sealed the win for the Trojans. Osawatomie scored 12 in the third and held Anderson County to four points.

Harleigh Kitchen scored five points hitting a field goal and a three-pointer. Laura Gulley added a three-point shot with Megan Roth and Fisher adding two points each.

Fisher and the Trojan offense controlled the ball in the fourth quarter to hold the lead. Fisher scored the only two points.

Fisher ended with 17 points, Kitchen had five, Gulley three and Roth two points.

The championship game will be played in Anderson County Thursday night.

The seventh-grade team began its tournament run Tuesday night and will play again Thursday in Anderson County.
