Trojans Fall By Six At Iola

Osawatomie fell to Iola 49-43 to start the basketball season Friday night.

The Trojans fell behind in the first quarter and could not catch the home team from Iola, which joined the Pioneer League this season.

Osawatomie shot just 43 percent from the field and 26 percent from the three-point line in the game. All the scoring came from only four players.

Iola jumped out to a 15-9 lead in the first quarter and led 25-20 at the half.

Osawatomie scored just six in the third quarter and could not top Iola even though they scored 17 in the fourth.

Brandon Oakes led the Trojans with 15 points and Josh Criddle scored 11. Austin Chisam scored nine points and Drew Needham had 11.

Oakes also led the team in rebounding with six.

The boys played Tuesday night against Spring Hill in the Ike Cearfoss Classic and will play in the second round Thursday.
