Girls’ Basketball Team Falls In Opener

It was a cold shooting night for the Trojan girls to open the season at Iola Friday night.

Osawatomie shot only 6-20 from the 2-point line and 1-9 from beyond the 3-point line in a 31-17 loss. The Trojans also had 21 turnovers.

Tayler Soucie led the Trojans with seven points. Candice Firley and Tess Newport each had three points. Britnie Wright and Courtney Kilbourn each had two points.

Soucie also led the team in rebounds with six. Wright had five, Britney Whitley and Firley each had three.

The Trojans played in the first round of the Ike Cearfoss Classic Basketball tournament Tuesday night and will play in the second round Thursday.
