William F. Ford

March 17, 1946 – Jan. 13, 2012

William F. Ford, 65, Osawatomie, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at his home.

He was born March 17, 1946, in Louisburg, the sixth of the 11 children of Burley and Neomia Ford.

Mr. Ford worked for Gary Hauer at Hauer Turf Farm before retiring in 1997.

Those preceding him in death included three brothers, Robert Ford, Larry Ford and Richard Ford, and three sisters, Shirley Redman, Wanda Ferguson and Helen Gray.

Survivors include one brother Jack W. Ford of Osawatomie and three sisters, Betty June Bagg of Osawatomie, Jan Maguson of Kansas City, Kan., and Nancy Wilson of Salina.

Private family services will be held with burial at a later date.

 

Patrick Dean Jordan

March 17, 1959 – Jan. 21, 2012

Patrick Dean Jordan, 52, La Cygne, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, in Olathe Medical Center.

The son of Louis Glenn and Ella Louise Jordan, he was born March 17, 1959, in Topeka.

He attended Chanute schools before graduating from the Pittsburg State University Auto Mechanic Program in 1989. He worked as an auto technician before retiring due to his health in 2000.

Survivors include two children, Joshua Jordan of Osawatomie and Rebekah Shafer of Parker; five brothers, Jeff Jordan of Kansas City, Mo., Randy Jordan of Osawatomie, Mike Jordan of Chanute, Galen Jordan of Miami, Okla., and Duane Jordan of Spring Hill; three sisters, Linda Flinner of Scranton, Kan., Sherry Troxel of Osawatomie and Jennifer Reaves of Chanute; and one grandson.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Zion Lutheran Church in Chanute. The Rev. Dave Irwin will officiate. Burial will be in the Odense Cemetery near Erie.

The family will receive family and friends for a luncheon and time of fellowship at 11:30 a.m. Saturday prior to the services.

Memorial contributions are to Penwell-Gabel Johns Chapel, 101 N. Highland, Chanute Kan.

 

Letha Nicolodi

April 2. 1922 – Jan. 16, 2012

Letha Nicolodi, 89, Paola, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at North Point Skilled Nursing in Paola.

She was born April 2, 1922, at Hoisington, Kan. She was one of five children of Daniel Jackson and Ruth Marie Cravens Truitt.

She married John Fred Nicolodi on May 9, 1953, at Wheatland, Calif. They made their home in California.

Those preceding her in death included her husband; a daughter Elizabeth Rose Guyett; and a son Jack Guyett.

Survivors include her daughter Shirley Buie of Osawatomie; her son John Fred Nicolodi Jr. of Modesto, Calif.; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

A private burial will be at a later date in Modesto. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home of Paola cared for the local arrangements.

Memorials are to North Point Skilled Nursing in Paola.

 

Gary Spencer

May 17, 1950 – Jan. 18, 2012

Gary Spencer, 61, Greeley, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at his home.

He was born on May 17, 1950, in Garnett, the son of Wayne and Eva McCarty Spencer.  He spent his childhood in Greeley and graduated from Greeley High School in 1968.  He served in the U.S. Army from July 1970 until March 1972.  While in the service he served in Germany.  He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and a Sharpshooter Medal.

On April 27, 1973, he was united in marriage to Colette Wolken in St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scipio. They became the parents of four children.

He worked on many local projects and power plants as a boilermaker with Local Lodge 84 of Paola and later as a pipefitter with the Plumber and Pipefitters Local Union No. 397 of Bartlesville, Okla.

Mr. Spencer was a member of the Greeley United Methodist Church.

He loved University of Kansas basketball, NASCAR, restoring trucks and afternoons with the “Café Coffee Club”, but his greatest joy was his family and friends.

Those preceding him in death included his parents and his son Craig Spencer, who died in 1999.

Survivors include his wife Colette Spencer of the home; two sons, Sean Spencer of Osawatomie and Michael Spencer of Mound City; a daughter Amy Malone of Raymore,  Mo.; one sister Sharon Spencer of Lenexa; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday in Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Garnett, followed by burial in St. Boniface Cemetery at Scipio.

Memorials are to the T.H.E. Brain Trust in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 408, Garnett, KS 66032.
