Osawatomie Family Involved In Three-Vehicle Accident

Three people were injured Thursday night in a four-vehicle crash that occurred on U.S. Highway 69 north of Louisburg.

The crash happened at 7:45 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 69 Highway just south of 223rd Street, when Jason M. Phillips, 32, of Osawatomie, was driving his 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass south on U.S. 69 at a high rate of speed.

Phillips’ vehicle collided with the mirror of a 1997 Ford Escort, driven by James Blevins, 47, of Paola, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report.

According to the report, Phillips lost control of his vehicle and struck the 2006 Ford pickup truck, driven by Aaron Battle, 34, of Louisburg, pushing Battle’s truck into the median and rolling it.

Phillips then rear-ended a third vehicle, a 2000 Honda Accord driven by Walter M. Robbins, 39, of Louisburg.

Phillips and one of his passengers, 2-year-old Jacy Phillips, were taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash. Jacy and the other passenger, 10-year-old Austin Phillips, were wearing their seat belts, while Jason Phillips was not.

Blevins was not treated for injuries and was not wearing his seat belt.

Battle was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital to be treated for injuries. He was not wearing his seat belt.

Robbins was not treated for injuries. He was wearing his seat belt.
