Change For A Dollar To Be Shown Sept. 26 In Osawatomie
By Doug Carder
The award-winning short film “Change for a Dollar” will be shown from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 26 at City Auditorium, 425 Main St. The film will be screened every half hour, and the public is invited to attend this free event.
Shot in one day at various locations in Osawatomie last March, the film is a heartwarming story about a homeless man who affects several individuals’ lives for the better, with just one dollar.
Filmmaker Sharon Wright, a former Osawatomie resident, thought the community would be the ideal location for the film. Wright said she was appreciative of the warm welcome she received from the community during the making of the film.
Wright and lead actor Robert P. Campbell will be at the screening to greet community members and answer questions about the film.
“We look forward to showing the film to the town that made it possible,” she said.
“Change for a Dollar” won the audience choice award at the Moonlight Film Festival in Leesburg, Va.
At the AOF International Film Festival in Pasadena, Calif., the film was nominated for the Sirroco Award for films that have a positive message. First-time director Wright also was nominated for Best Female Filmmaker. She also wrote the script and produced the film.
