High School And Middle School Students Prepare For Drama Productions

Some of the classic songs of the 1950s will be featured in the upcoming Osawatomie High School presentation of “The Leader of the Pack, the Ellie Greenwich Musical”.

High school students will present the musical on Friday, Nov. 19, and Saturday, Nov. 20. Both shows begin at 7 p.m.

Osawatomie music teacher Maggie McKain said the musical tells the life story of Ellie Greenwich through the songs she wrote like “Leader of the Pack”, “Doo Wah Diddy”, “Chapel of Love”, and many others.

“This show is packed full of songs and dancing,” she said. “The students have had a great time putting this show together and are looking forward to presenting it to the public.”

The show’s cast includes Darbey Madden, Drew Needham, Cody Applegarth, Cheyanne Williams, Kathryn Wilson, Brittany Heppler, Megan McKain, Tess Newport, Austin McReynolds, Bree Rhodes, Austin Johnson, Keisha McDaniel, Jamie King, Katie Morin, Jessie Adams, Dustin Botwinik, Stone Williams, Lindsey Gulley and Tabatha Deidiker.

Working behind the scenes on the stage crew are Haley Maas, Jamie Coleman, Nichole Razo and Taylor Soucie.

The music will be provided by the pit band. Members include Coltin Lamb, Chance Jolley, Daniel Dorsett, Austin Neal and Dalton Gilbeau.

Tickets can be purchased at the door each night and are $5 for adults. Students and senior citizen tickets are $3. All proceeds go to the OHS music department.

Doors open at 6:15 each night.

OMS To Present The Hound Of The Clackervilles.

Students at Osawatomie Middle School are hard at work on their fall play, “The Hound of the Clackervilles”.

The play is a spoof of the classic Sherlock Holmes story.

The play will be presented at 7 p.m. Dec. 3 and 4. They are also planning matinee performances at Trojan Elementary on Dec. 2 and Osawatomie Middle School on Dec. 3.

Tickets are $3.

Directory Lori French, who is directing a middle school play for the 20th year, said students first performed this play in 2002.

“I just love drama class,” she said. “It is a lot of work, but so worth it. I am also so very excited for the high school musical. How fun it is for me to see these kids continuing their love of the theater”.

The cast includes Morgan Soucie, Haley McDougal, Samantha Farris, Rikki Kelly, Sarah Thorton, Cheyenne Cooper, Caitlyn Wilson, Cody King, Daniel DeLeon, Megan Higdon, Briley Beets. Harleigh Kitchen, Jade Dozier, Lanie Hastings, Angelica Storms, Sayln Welter, Tiffany DeMoss, Laurel Bush, Riley England, Larissa Harrison, Luke Daniels, Zealia Klietz, Madison Lofing, Brandon Guilfoyle-Pace, Hunter Poage, Holly Noland and Keonna Goodwin.

Co-directors are Cara Chitwood and Lynda Maddox. High school interns are Bethany Elmquist and Zack Owens and high school assistants are Chance Jolley, Taryn McReynolds, Tanner Foulk, Drew Needham, Cody Applegarth and Darbey Madden

Stage directors are Tristan Geiger, Madison Maley and Abby Kaempfe.
