By Jeff Gulley

The seventh-grade Trojan girls’ basketball team scored 13 points in the fourth quarter against Central Heights to earn their first win of the season.

Osawatomie topped the Vikings 25-12 Thursday. It was the highest scoring game of the season for the seventh-graders.

In the first quarter, Meagan Roth and Kelcey Wendt each scored two points and the Trojans 4-0.

Wendt added four points in the second quarter and Roth scored two points. The Vikings made a run with six points by Regan Markley.

The game remained close in the third quarter. Laura Gulley scored for the Trojans and Abigail McBee scored for the Vikings. The score was 12-8 heading to the final period.

But that’s when the Trojan offense and a full-court press began to work.

Wendt scored six points and Gulley scored three. Jessie Beets and Madilyn Gordon added baskets to seal the win.

Wendt ended the game as the leading scorer with 12 points. Gulley had five and Roth had four points.

The Vikings were led by Markley with eight points and McBee had four points.
