The girl’s basket ball team of the Osawatomie High School are on the war-path this season. They have a most enviable record. We have not heard of a defeat registered against them so far this season and they have been playing some mighty good teams, too. They played Parker at Parker Friday and won the game by a score of 20 to 17. Go on girls, make them forget the football record.

The Osawatomie school football team went down to Blue Mound Thanksgiving, and also down to defeat, by a score of 17 to 0. The Osawatomie boys seemed to have the better of the argument the first two periods of the game, but the weight and endurance of the husky Blue Mound team began to tell in the third quarter and the game was over as far as the Osawatomie boys were concerned.

The Hanson Clothing company’s store is undergoing a thorough overhauling. The stands of shelving which stood in the center of the store have been placed along the west wall and two handsome rugs and comfortable settees have taken their place in the center of the store. This change helps the appearance of the store wonderfully and gives them more room to move around.

Sutton’s Hardware, 554 Main St., has been sold.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sutton have sold their store to Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Brown, Route 5, Paola. The transaction will be effective Jan. 1.

The Suttons have owned the store two years, purchasing it from Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Brownback. Sutton said his future plans are indefinite at this time, but he will be making a decision about Christmas time.

Brown, who is a full-time custodian at Hillsdale School, has operated Complete Saw and Tool Sharpening through the hardware store for the past three years. That service will be incorporated into the store operation.

Brown will be leaving his job as custodian and he and his wife, Jackie, plan to expand the store to offer glass, screen and pipe cutting services.

The name of the store will be changed to Brown’s Hardware.

The Browns have two children, David, who lives in Boulder, Colo., and Amy, a student at University of Kansas.

That question was stirring the political world in Washington and Kansas this week. Actually, that question is hypothetical at this point because U.S. Sen. Nancy Kassebaum, R-Kansas, hasn’t said what her future plans are.
