Trojans Top Metro Academy

By Jeff Gulley

Osawatomie faced its tallest test of the season in the final game of December as Metro Academy came to town Dec. 14.

The Warriors were familiar with Osawatomie as just three days before they captured the Osawatomie tournament title with a win over Coffeyville.

They also brought with them the 6-9 center Isaac Kreuer but the Trojans handled the big man and ended December with a 49-33 win.

Seth Jones scored 14 points and combined with Jacob Vail to hold Kreuer to only 13 points.

Osawatomie got off to a quick start scoring 14 points behind five from Jones. The Trojan defense held Metro Academy to only four points in the first quarter.

Osawatomie added eighth points in the second. Vail led the charge with three points and the Trojans led 22-16 at the break.

The Trojans did not let the Warriors any closer, scoring 11 points in third quarter. Spencer Booe and Jones each hit 3-pointers.

Booe hit his third 3-pointer in the fourth quarter as the Trojans pulled away.

Booe ended the game with 11 points and Brandon Oakes added eight. Vail and Chance Sinclair each had seven points and Allen Raymer had two points.

Osawatomie is back in action again Jan. 4.
