Wildcats Topple Trojans 49-29

Harrisonville proved to be a rough first-round draw for the Osawatomie girls’ basketball team Monday night.
The Wildcats jumped out to a big early lead and never looked back, beating Osawatomie 49-29.
Osawatomie started off shooting cold, scoring only four points in the first quarter on buckets by Rebecca Fisher and Courtney Kilbourn. The Trojans trailed 11-4 after one quarter.
The shooting touch came back for Osawatomie in the second quarter and they narrowed the gap on Harrisonville early in the quarter but the Wildcats extended their lead to 15 points with a late surge.
Tess Newport scored four points in the second quarter but the Trojans trailed 29-14 at halftime.
Osawatomie scored 15 points in the second half with Fisher accounting for eight of those points.
Fisher ended the game with 12 points. Kilbourn had six and Newport had four. Taylor Soucie, Britney Whitley and Cayley Fenoughty also scored for the Trojans.
Osawatomie will face Harmon Wednesday night at 7:30 in the second round of the tournament. Harmon lost 88-7 to Louisburg Monday night. Louisburg will play Harrisonville. The final games of the tournament will be played Saturday.
