Trojan Wrestlers Earn Five Medals

Five Osawatomie wrestlers medalled at the Holton tournament Saturday and the team took ninth-place overall.

Devon Dozier and Zach Grimes both placed second. Brant Johnson was third, Bodhi Wallace was fifth and Caleb Lofing was sixth.

Dozier, wrestling at 135 pounds pinned his first two opponents in the tournament before falling to Zach Litvak of Gardner in the finals.

Grimes was second at 189 pounds, winning his first match by pin and his second match 11-0. In the finals, Grimes dropped a 4-2 decision to Donnie Lockhart of Shawnee Heights.

Johnson took third at 140 pounds. He won his first match 5-3 before dropping a 4-0 decision to Jake Uncheid of Andover Central, who went on to win the 140-pound title. Dropping to the losers’ bracket, Johnson pinned his next opponent and beat Mitchell Baird of Pratt 4-1 for third place.

Wallace was 2-2 in the tournament at 125 pounds, winning fifth-place by a pin. Lofing was sixth at 215 pounds, dropping a 5-0 decision in the final match.

Osawatomie will host its annual tournament Saturday at the high school beginning at 9 a.m.
