Kline Retiring After 33 Years In Banking

By Jeff Gulley

Angela Kline has witnessed a lot of changes in her 33-plus years at First Option Bank.

Hired to be a secretary for Ted Lewis in 1977, Kline has witnessed the banking industry evolve with technology and her career path advanced also as she will retire next week from her position as vice president.

“When I applied here it was close to home, I had young children in school and I liked working with figures,” Kline said. “It was a good fit. And the people here have become family. It’s been hard to see some long-time employees leave but its been fun getting to know the new ones.”

After originally being hired as a secretary, Kline worked as a teller for many years. When a new proof machine was purchased, she moved to a bookkeeping position and ran the new machine as well as filing checks by hand and counting and stuffing customer statements. She then started working as Ted Lewis’s secretary and upon his retirement in 1998, became the personal assistant to Gregg Lewis.

Kline said she will miss coming to work everyday but plans on traveling with her husband Gayle, with fishing trips to Colorado high on the list.

She is a lifelong resident of Osawatomie and graduated in 1965 from Osawatomie High School. She is the daughter of Don and Doris Davis, well known residents of Osawatomie.

An open house is planned at First Option Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to honor Kline for her service to the bank.
