Brant Johnson won his opening match in the consolation round by pin. He remains in the chase for a medal.

FRIDAY SUMMARY

In what seemed more like a state title match than a semifinal match, Zack Grimes fell to Clay Center’s Zack Anderson 3-1 in overtime. The rematch of last year’s semifinal match had all the expected drama with each wrestler scoring a point in the second and third rounds but Anderson got the takedown in overtime for the win. Grimes will now wrestling tomorrow in the consolation semifinals at 189 pounds.
Devon Dozier also dropped his semifinal match 7-4.
Both wrestlers are guaranteed to medal and can place as high as third.
Brant Johnson wrestles in the first round tomorrow morning. He needs to win three to be in the medal hunt.
